Yesterday was a long day Baby D is 1) teething(he has been I think since at least 6 months old or at least that seems what the doc's go to "illness" is) 2) we are now entering the deep and dark waters of terrible 2's
Teething and the signs:
1) drooling: You would think they would run out but it doesn't stop...EVER.. imagine a snail on steroids and really fast.
2) generally un-happiness and essentially laughing and crying with in 5 minutes
3) biting everything and anything. Cats are fair game. RUN!!!!
Terrible 2's
You may be asking yourself how a baby that is only 16 months old could be entering the terrible 2's well new flash it can happen early (Who's excited?!!?) or at least well before the age of 2.
Signs:
Baby thinks he is boss and you can do no right (possible foreshadow to our teenage years? )
Our day started out as any other day everything seemed fine but it was the calm before the storm. Baby D had a small fit when hubby left for work (understandable, I usually throw myself on the ground in hysterical fits but due to society I have to keep it inside) Baby D for the most part had a good day..until....he only took 1 nap and it was a little over an hour(warning sign #1). The nanny and I had our fingers crossed that Baby D would take an afternoon nap..should have crossed more. After I ended my shift at work came out to find Baby D and the nanny enjoying some books (yahoo reading!!)
After a quick run down of the afternoon and a hug from Baby D our nanny hit the road. The thunder from the impending Hurricane Baby D started to rumble when our nanny needed her keys back. In trying to sooth things over I handed Baby D my keys..he wouldn't be fooled! So in order to distract I offered a walk. Baby D loves outside and walks.
Walk in my head was to go as follows: Baby in stroller and headed to the library to pick up some more books and have an amazing mother/son bonding moment.
How the walk went: Baby D was not having sitting in the stroller and wanted to push it and then he wanted a ball that he insisted on trying to throw in the street. After 3 times of this ball disappeared ( I don't catch on quick) We never made it out of our apartment complex. We made it to the swing set which was in the opposite direction of the library. Our walk ended with tears and all around not a happy Baby D or mommy.
What I have learned since yesterday.
Breaks are OK for mommy and Baby D
Bedtime will fix it all
Tomorrow is a new and wonderful day :)
What my husband and I have learned in our freshmen year of parenthood is be flexible and the next day can and usually is always an improvement. Even with a Hurricane Baby D brewing we love every minute and today was truly a better day.
awwww love this!!!
